Fifty-seven of British Columbia’s top under-18 amateur football players will get one last opportunity to impress the coaching staff of Team BC before the final 40-player roster is finalized for the team that will compete at the 2010 Football Canada Cup in Wolfville, Nova Scotia from July 10-17, 2010.
Football BC posted on their website earlier this week the list of players who have moved on to what will be the final stage of the selection process. There were 97 players that were invited to a tryout camp at Burnaby’s Simon Fraser University during the Victoria Day long weekend.
The remaining Team BC hopefuls will now face off against BC Junior Football’s Big Kahuna Rams in an exhibition contest at the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex West Field #4 on Sunday, June 13. Kickoff is 3 p.m. PT.
Following the game, the coaches are expected to make their final decisions on which players to take to Nova Scotia for the national championship. The players are expected to be notified on June 14.
British Columbia is participating in the Football Canada Cup for the first time since 2000 this year.
