NORTH VANCOUVER — A ball-hawking W.J. Mouat Hawks’ defence counted four interceptions on the day, helping B.C. ‘s No. 3-ranked Triple A team come away with a decisive non-conference victory Friday in North Vancouver.
“We atoned for a less-than-satisfactory performance against Mission and we’re building momentum for the Van College game next Saturday,” said Mouat head coach Denis Kelly. “Defensive intensity was outstanding, we gave the Carson QB (Darius Lamiere) a hard time for most of the afternoon.”
The high-scoring Hawks’ offence was right back to its potent ways against the Eagles.
In fact after Nathan Henczel opened the scoring for the Hawks on a 47-yard reverse, Mouat’s O was led by its core of D’s: Devin, Daniel, Deion and David.
Devin Logan scored on a 65-yard punt return, a 10-yard rush and two-yard rush.
Daniel Markin, the quarterback, called his own number from a yard out, and also went 15 yards to David Park for the major score.
And Deion Bain returned an interception 70 yards for a touchdown.
Tanner Strauss hit on all seven convert attempts.
